Henry Vilas Zoo

Image
We had some time in the morning before our flight from Madison to Atlanta so we visited the Henry Vilas Zoo. It's a relatively small zoo that's ran entirely on donations. There's still a lot to see and we did not get to most of them because of time constraints. We enjoyed this one.

Wisconsin State Capitol

We went on a short trip to Madison, WI in early May for a wedding. We planned for time to see the sights in Madison and spent one afternoon at the State Capitol. We joined the tour and got access to some of the areas that are usually off-limits. We learned a lot of interesting information about the building itself and state government. We were in awe of the structure. It was made mostly of marble from different parts of the world and had so many intricate details. A must visit if you're in Madison.

School Spring Fling

Image
Neil's school had their annual spring fling in late April. It's a school fair in the afternoon combined with student art show. I was excited to see Neil's artwork but we found out they were all done in the first semester before he joined this school so we'll have to wait until the next one. There were animals on site and Ela enjoyed that the most.

Ela is 3!

April 2018 Ela turned three in April. :) We celebrated with her classmates at school and then just the family at home in the evening. We made heart-shaped pancakes in the morning. Ready for school! Her classmates sang the Happy Birthday song for her and we shared cupcakes with everyone after their lunch. Her big surprise at home was her bedroom! Neil and I painted her bed a few days before the big day. She's very much into Beauty and the Beast around this time so family sent her gifts around this theme. She enjoyed blowing her candle and asked to do it again and again. We were happy to oblige. :) We told Ela that when she turns three, she would sleep in her own bedroom. Her crib/toddler bed has been in our room ever since and we took this opportunity to help her transition into her own bedroom. She slept there on the first night which was a major milestone. Big girl na. Ela is a blessing. She's a happy child, sweet and funny. She is curio

Universal Studios

April 2018 We went to Universal Studios on our third day of spring break vacation in Orlando. We learned from the previous day's experience and got to the park just as it opened. It was nice to roam around with very few people and went on a few rides with no queue! We have decided to do this on future theme park visits. One of our best memories from this day was the Barney show. Ela watches Barney and she was so excited to see the characters perform live. Neil enjoyed Diagon Alley. We stayed until the Mardi Gras-themed evening parade. It was a long day again, tiring but fun.

Islands of Adventure

April 2018 Our second day of spring break in Orlando was spent at Islands of Adventure theme park. We were able to go on a few rides, taking advantage of parent swap. Neil has been reading the Harry Potter books so he really enjoyed the Harry Potter area. Both kids were such troopers as we stayed in queue for a long time to get to the rides. Our philosophy was to just take our time and not rush to see and experience everything. It was a long and tiring day but all of us enjoyed it. :)
