NatGeo Earth Day Run - Done!

Image
The NatGeo Earth Day Run happened last Sunday.  We set our alarms for 4:15, enough time to prepare and get to the venue.  The assembly was 5:20, I think we arrived a little after 5AM.  There were already so many people there, all excited to run the 3k, 5k and 10k.  Just being in the company of this large group who would trade sleeping in on a Sunday morning to run and sweat for a cause is priceless. :) We met Yayan, Mike and Mae before the race.  Yayan then looked for her Korean friends, while Mike and Mae had to deposit their bags at the tent.  Richard and I proceeded to the assembly point, and when the horn sounded, we started.... walking. :) There were too many people in front you can't really jog/run freely.  After a few meters, we had enough room and started jogging.  I have always needed to drink during physical activities so it was good that we had the Jansport hydration pack, which Richard carried.  He's my water boy. :) I didn't get a lot of practice before

NatGeo Earth Day Run

Richard and I will be at the NatGeo Earth Day Run on April 18 at the Mall of Asia grounds.  We registered last Sunday, which was the last day.  I was worried there won't be any race kits left but not so!  We are meant to run the 5k on Sunday. :) I haven't exercised in weeks (months?) so this is a good way to kickstart a regimen.  I was on the treadmill for 30 minutes the other day and needless to say, my legs hurt now.  But I have to do some physical and mental conditioning to ready myself for the fun run.  I'll do this twice more before Sunday.  I just want to push myself and finish with a good time. :) Would you believe this is my first commercial (ie pay to join) fun run ever?  Somebody's excited!

The Authoritative Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Watterson

I've had this book for years.  I just finished re-reading it and had a number of laughs.  It's really funny!  I guess I appreciate it more now because of Neil and Tigger. :)

Kingdom Stories: The Seed

Image
Kingdom Stories is the current preaching series at Victory.  This series helps us understand the kingdom of God, based on the parables used by Jesus.  The topics in this series are: The Seed, The Treasure, The Landowner and The Banquet. THE SEED Main Verse Luke 6:38 Het told them another parable: "The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field.  Though it is the smallest of all your seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and perch in its branches." Lesson: The kingdom of heaven in characterized by: Growth The mustard seed is the smallest seed, yet it grows to be the largest of garden plants. 1 Corinthians 3:7 So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. Small does not mean insignificant. Jesus himself came from a small town and the first disciples he chose were unimpressive men. It is ok to start s

The Empty Cross: Triumphant Defeat

Last Saturday was the final installment of the 3-part preaching series at Victory entitled The Empty Cross.  The first two topics were Foolish Wisdom and Powerful Weakness.  Last night, it was Triumphant Defeat.  In this series, we learn the different representations of the empty cross. Verses: John 19:30 When he had received the drink, Jesus said "It is finished."  With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. Colossians 2:13-15 When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, god made you alive with Christ.  He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross.  And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them. triumphing over them by the cross. Message: When Jesus said "It is finished," it was not a declaration of relief but of VICTORY.  Victory over what? 1)

Flip Video Free with HP Printers

Image
I learned about this promo from chuvaness and I got so excited because R and I have been talking about buying a printer/scanner just this week, and I have been wanting a Flip ever since Daphne Osena posted about it on her blog!  I've checked the reviews for these several times and was just having difficulty justifying another video gadget since the DLSR can already take HD videos.  This promo is the perfect opportunity! So R went to check out the printers and we found out that the ones included in the promo need the more expensive ink (P1050 vs. P350).  For about 7 ink refills, I can already buy the Flip.  We bought another model instead... Even though I can't Flip out yet, it's still ok because we made the sensible decision in this case.  I have to use my cameras for taking videos for now...
