OPM2: Machonurin

The third installment of OPM2, the current preaching series in Victory is entitled 'Machonurin' or the men who have abdicated their roles as the head of the family.  The series explored the Biblical concept of manhood. Ephesians 5:21-25 Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. 23For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her... Genesis 2:15:23 The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. And the LORD God commanded the man, "You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die." The LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will mak

1st Anniversary in IHG

I am celebrating a milestone today.  It's my first year anniversary in IHG.  Happy anniversary to me! :) I started my career in one of the best technology companies in the world (Hello, Intel!) so I had very realistic expectations for my company #2.  I've heard it said by ex-Intel employees that one will be disappointed because Intel standards are hardly met, if ever.  I do agree for some areas, but overall, I believe I chose a good #2. My IHG appreciation list: Flexi-time, my work hours 2-11PM, which gives me the whole morning to just stay at home and be with Neil. The business trip to Atlanta + vacation to Los Angeles and San Deigo in May/June this year. Upcoming business trip to Orlando + vacation in LA.  (Booked tickets today.) The opportunity to manage. First executive checkup. An entirely new business/industry to learn about. Fun officemates! As in every place, there are a few things that could be improved, but I'm keeping things positive today so I'

OPM2: Kanya-Kanya

Today's preaching notes... The topic for today's preaching is still on the OPM (Original Pilipino Mindsets) series, specifically 'Kanya-kanya.'  As Filipinos, of course we know what this mean.  It means you take care of your business and I take care of mine.  That might not sound negative, per se, but it does become detrimental when under selfish motivations, we look out ONLY for ourselves without concern for others, even taking advantage of them or harming them. Simple and very common example: driving in Metro Manila.  If there are no traffic lights and cars are left to their own diskarte at intersections, then there will be chaos.  While drivers are looking out for themselves, they eventually end up in a worse place, along with everyone else. Main Verse: Galatians 3:26-28 You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.  There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor

Weekend Getaway: Laiya, Batangas

September 25, our friends C+C invited us to go to the beach the following weekend. Without hesitation and without consulting R, I said yes. I've been wanting to go somewhere far from Makati I decided we should grab this opportunity.  Not having a car has been a major factor why there hasn't been any out-of-town trips in the last year.  So I was really excited, not just for me, but for Neil to see the beach again. After some Internet research, we decided on La Luz Beach Resort. It was one of the cheaper resorts in the area. It looked nice online (don't they all?), a few friends recommend the place and there were good reviews. That's what it takes to choose in the Internet age... C+C came to pick us up on Friday. We were spending the night at their house in Dasma so we can start the drive early the ff day. We left around 9AM, and arrived at the resort past 12NN, and hungry. First stop, buffet lunch. They served pinakbet, lechong manok, grilled fish. Then we brought ou
