Alice in Wonderland by Repertory Philippines

Image
We watched the play 'Alice in Wonderland' at Greenbelt 1 today, with the rest of Neil's schoolmates and parents in attendance.  The show was scheduled to start at 2:30PM and we were just waking up from our afternoon nap at 2:05!  We had to carry Neil to the car, still sleeping, and made it just in time before the show started.  All's well that ends well! This was a visual spectacle.  I loved the set and costumes.  They were very creative and well-executed.  I read the book and I was curious about how they would present the scenes as a play (e.g. Alice shrinking and growing, falling down the rabbit hole) but it was all done seamlessly. Picture-taking was not allowed so I scanned a couple of pages from the from the souvenir program.  Needless to say, the vocals and acting were great, too.  This is Repertory Philippines after all.=) I recommend Alice in Wonderland for children of all ages. Happy Birthday, Lan!

Happy birthday, Lan! Sorry that you're not able to experience how it is to have a great big sister, like you are to me.=)  Thank you for your generosity, patience, kindness and presence despite the distance.  I admire your resilience and steadfastness.  Laaaaabs!

Saturday with the DasmaKids

Image
What happens when DasmaKids who have not seen each other for a while meet for lunch?  It can continue on to coffee, arcade and videoke, shopping and dinner.=)  Haha, that's what happened to us on Saturday!  I had to skip everything between lunch and dinner for the outreach event but everyone else stuck around. The main purpose of the meeting was to start planning for our grand family adventure coming next month.=) Lunch Videoke (pictures from Ian) New shoes for the boys Dinner at Dads Good times!

Family Favorite: Zong in Bonifacio Global City

Image
We dined at Zong in Bonifacio Global City two weekends ago and we were there again last weekend.  Granted, we had to use the Groupon vouchers before they expired but it's a really good place to eat.=)  This is our third time to buy vouchers for this restaurant and we've eaten there over five times.  All instances have been satisfying!  A popular item on the menu is  Chicken in Salted Egg Yolk.    It's not the healthiest choice but it's sooo good!  All the shrimp dishes are excellent as well.  The latest one we tried were the Broccoli with Prawns and Shrimp and Tofu.  The latter I would definitely order again the next time we visit. Ayala Museum + Dinner at Marciano's Greenbelt 3

Image
Last Saturday, my team at work was invited to participate in an outreach activity at the Ayala Museum .  We were big sisters/brothers for an afternoon to some grade school students and we guided them through the exhibits and the art activity. I have been to the Ayala Museum a few times before because we've taken Neil there for art activities and I once did a solo exploration on a whim.  But touring the place again with a guide and as a guide to the kids made me appreciate the exhibits a lot more.  On exhibit at the main floor right now are the entries to the Shell art competition. Syringe and tissue art by my buddy for the afternoon, Irvin. After the activity at the Ayala Museum, we had dinner at Marciano's in Greenbelt 3.  Food was good! I loved the calamari and pizza.  Because we were a big group, it took a while for the main orders to get served so by the time my entree of grilled salmon arrived, I was quite full and just ate a quarter of it.  Took it

Eat Right for Your Type by Dr. Peter J'Adamo

Image
I borrowed this book from an officemate after a short discussion on the topic during our team meeting.  I was curious about the whole idea of using blood type as the primary basis for dietary decisions.  I have heard about it before but having someone share about it from this book got my attention this time.  The first part of the book introduces the evolution of different blood types.  Type O (me!) is said to be the original type, from the hunter/gatherer phase of civilization and are thus more suited to high-protein diets and cardio-heavy exercise.  Type A came about when people started tilling the land and eating plants.  Thus, they are more suited to a vegetarian diet.  The next few chapters detailed specific food groups and what are good, neutral and bad for the different types.  Some information made me happy, others made me miserable (knee-jerk reaction).   I actually read the book before I was advised by the doctor to change my diet.  They aligned.  Again, stay away
