Keeping Up in High Heels

Image
Keeping Up in High Heels is a Victory LifeBiz seminar for balancing career, family, etc.  It was held at the Every Nation building last Saturday, January 22, 2010.   I had planned to attend this seminar ever since I first found out about it.   Saturday morning, we had to go to Cavite to check out the property.  The renter has left and we wanted to see the condition of the house.  It was well taken care of, except for the front yard with the overgrown weeds.   We visited friends Ian and Au and had lunch in their house.  It was past 6PM when we got back to the condo, and by this time, I was so tired.  I could easily have called off attending the seminar, but I'm so glad I didn't. =) There were great testimonies, stories and tips from the 3 speakers - Donita Rose, Marily Orosa and Rachel Ong.  I was inspired, encouraged and motivated by these women of God.  And got a few laughs, too. What I will remember most from Rachel's talk are faith and obedience to God, even if

Neil is 2.5

Neil turned 2.5 yo yesterday.  I looked through his old pictures and it's really hard to imagine all the changes/developments he's gone through in so short a time.  I put together this video of his first 2.5. :)

Prayer and Fasting Day 4

Image
January 7-13 is Victory Christian Fellowship's corporate prayer and fasting week.  It's officially Day 4, 3 more to go.  Richard and I attended the prayer meeting at VCF Fort and I was encouraged, inspired and challenged by the message. P&F week is also the week for writing down faith goals for the year.  Today's mainpoint was: Are you praying only for the probable?  The lesson is not to underestimate/undermine the powers of God by asking for the things that are going to happen or a likely to happen anyway.  Pray for the big things, the seemingly impossible things so that when they happen, you'll know that they can only be by God's hand.  If God does not grant them, then it's still ok... Today's Bible reading is from Joshua 6:1-5 Now the gates of Jericho were securely barred because of the Israelites. No one went out and no one came in. Then the LORD said to Joshua, "See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its ki

Neil Notes 2010

Image
I will tag all posts about Neil 'Neil Notes' and this is offering #1.   Sa-miling is smiling for you and me. =)  What he does is face you and say "sa-miling" and give you a big smile.  Ahhh... Ayk Dis is also a new one.  He faces you, says Ayk Dis (with occasional voice changes) and makes a face and he waits for you to copy the face.  Repeat! Wow, nice! is what he says when he sees something he likes.  More predictably, he says this after you change his shirt or shorts, even if they are pambahay . We used to play Bible songs for children a lot when Neil was younger.  In the past months, they somehow got replaced by videos.  Just this week, we played them again and I was surprised that he kind of knows the words and melody.  He sings to them!  I think he knew them all along but just didn't know how to speak/sing yet.  Amazing! This is really for me because I tend to forget at what age he does things...   There will be more to come, because the boy is d

2011 is the year for blogging more

Here's what I plan to talk more about this year: Neil's development. He seems to be doing something new every week and I certainly noticed a lot of new skills/tricks while we were in Iligan.  The new environment did him a lot of good. =) Pictures - taken by me, or others for inspiration Monthlies - highlights for the month. A little about work, maybe God's faithfulness in big and small ways Notes from church services Random reflections That's a good list to start, eh? =)  See you in this space!

The Year of the Lord's Favor

January 2, 2011 Yey! Finally Richard and I were able to sit in church service together.  Since November, we've been on shifts watching Neil while one is in service.  We attended the 12 noon service at Victory Alabang (first time since the renovation, place looks huge and great) and it coincided with his nap.  He was asleep during the preaching and very cooperative during praise and worship.  I showed him the words on the screen and he attempted to sing with the congregation. =) 2011 is the year of the Lord's favor.  This was the theme of today's preaching by Pastor Sonny.  Still very funny, but packs a punch wrt to the lessons and revelations. Luke 4:14-21 14 Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside. 15 He was teaching in their synagogues, and everyone praised him. 16 He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. He stood u
