Daniela - Month 1 Updates

Image
It has been a month since we welcomed Daniela. Her weight at her month 1 checkup was 9 lbs 2 ozs and length was 21 inches, both at the 50th percentile. She's feeding and sleeping well. The longest was 5 hours but it's not consistent yet. She's starting to stare at faces and things. We stayed at home majority of the first month because baby's still too fragile but we've started going out for short periods in the last 2 weeks. We love our little Daniela.

Morgan Falls Overlook Park

Image
We explored the Morgan Falls Overlook Park on Sunday, May 24. It was on an email from Yelp. It was less than 15 minutes drive from our apartment, which was convenient. There's a large playground on astroturf, facilities for gatherings and hiking trails, but the best feature for me is the view of the water. There's a facility that rents out kayaks and paddleboards and a few people were enjoying these activities on the calm waters of the Morgan Falls reservoir. We were there in the morning but I imagine the light would be beautiful at sunset.

First Grade Awards Day

Image
And just like that, one school year is over. Neil's school held the first grade recognition ceremony on Monday, May 18, at 8AM. It was a simple and short ceremony (compared to school programs in the Philippines) but equally meaningful, if not more so this year because of the major transition. The principal gave a short message and then the teachers took turns in calling out the students receiving the awards. Neil received the Principal's Award for getting all As. Congratulations, Neil! We are so proud of you.

New Playground at Dunwoody Park/Nature Center

Image
One of our favorite warm-weather activities is going to the park. Dunwoody has a few that are within a short drive from the apartment. Last Friday, May 15, we went to the Dunwoody Park/Nature Center to check out the new playground which was inaugurated earlier that day. I thought there would be more people but it was just us plus another family. Great playground with the highest slide I have seen. I have a feeling we will be going back soon.

New Family Photos and Mothers' Day at Home

Image
We took new family photos on Mothers' Day. This was a quick photo session done at home. I just wanted to take some photos in our natural state (i.e. pambahay!) but Rich suggested that we change. Good decision, for the sake of the viewing public.=) I hope to take more photos outdoors while it's warm out. ****** Our Mothers' Day celebration was pretty simple. We had takeout from Cheesecake Factory because it's still logistically challenging to get out of the house aside from the fact that we want to avoid large crowds while baby is very young. This year is my first Mothers' Day as a mom of 2. It's special.=)
