Sally and Agui's Wedding

Image
Last Saturday, the family attended the wedding of my officemate Sally to Agui.  It was held at Bali Garden in Bacoor, just before entering Cavitex.  It was a fun and laid back celebration with family and friends. All the best, Sally and Agui! The beautiful bride. (Photo from John E.) Thanks to John for the next 2 sets of family photos! Table photo also from John.

Costume Day at School

Image
It is the season of costumes again! Neil wanted to be Batman this year so even if we wanted to DIY, we took the easy route this year and bought a costume from the mall. Daddy did the face paint and we were out the door. They were asked to stand on stage one-by-one to show the costume and answer some questions from teacher. Strike a pose! Classmates in costumes! Played some games inside the classroom. At the condo lobby.

Back to Books!

I finished 4 books in 4 weeks and my inner bookworm is happy.  That's part of the reason why I have not been blogging as much lately. Here they are: Seriously...I'm Kidding by Ellen DeGeneres Bossypants by Tina Fey The Year or Living Biblically by A.J. Jacobs David and Goliath by Malcolm Gladwell

Team Dinner at Maple

Image
Our team had dinner at Maple on Monday to welcome the new manager (if you're reading, Hi K!) and celebrate the completion of a project for the sales organization.  The chosen restaurant was Maple , located at San Antonio Plaza along McKinley Road in Makati.  The place is small but it wasn't full that night, plus we had reservations.=) I've read about Maple from several blogs and was a little curious about the place.  I was decided on ordering the Prime Rib Tapa, based on recommendations, but it was not available that night.=( I settled for the pasta with mussels, salmon and a kick of spice.  I forgot the name but it was pretty good.  The others in our group ordered the baby back ribs, steak and burger.  I think we were all pleased with the food. It was also my first time to try a version of the croissant-doughnut combo that is quite popular these days.  I don't get the fuss about this dessert though.  It was ok, unless this is subpar compared to the other plac

Run for Charity 2013

Image
The company I work for held a global fundraising and awareness event for a charity a few weeks back.  This is an annual event where employees pledge fitness mileage from running, swimming, exercise or any physical activity and the the "distance" is converted by the company to dollars. This year, our group jogging activity was held at the Ayala Triangle Gardens (previous ones were in UP and The Fort).  It poured while most of the team was on the way to the venue but the rain eventually let up to allow us to proceed with the activity. I pledged 15kms this year fulfilled during the run + 2 workout sessions at home. Team RM After exercise, food.=)

Walk for a Better Manila

Image
I saw this post on Carlos Celdran's Facebook account inviting people to Walk for a Better Manila.  It's a free guided walking tour at Luneta Park, going to the National Museum, the Manila City Hall and the Post Office.  I wanted to go and luckily Em was still in Manila and had Saturday morning free so we were able to join.  One of the goals of this activity was to deliver the petition to suspend the building permit of DMCI's Torre de Manila. If it pushes through, it will destroy the skyline at Luneta, forever photobombing the Rizal Monument. I signed the petition via Change.org and I'm glad to also be part of handing it over to the government. Let's see what happens next. There is a lot of repairs/reconstruction going on at the Rizal Park.  We could not go nearer to the monument because the area was cordoned off.  A temporary inconvenience but if it makes the park better, I'm all for it. Carlos is pointing to where the DMCI building would be l
