First Tooth Out

Image
Neil lost the first of his baby teeth today.  Milestone. =) The tooth has been loose for a few weeks, started jutting outwards and finally came off by itself while he was taking his nap.  He has not been afraid or worried about losing it though.  We told him that it will come off soon and he would even try to shake and pull it out. We see a small part of his first permanent tooth breaking out. This before picture was taken 2 days ago.  That's the loose tooth jutting out. After!

Neil's Birthday Blessings

Image
This is one month late but I wanted to post all the blessings Neil received from those who celebrated with us on his 5th birthday.  Thank you, everyone!

Neil Sings Bahay Kubo

Image
Neil learned to sing Bahay Kubo in school.  One time, I asked him to sing a song for lola, who was on the phone, and he sang the whole song!  Proud mommy moment. Here it is!

Saturday with Pawn Stars

Image
It's no secret that my favorite channel on TV is History and one of my favorite shows is Pawn Stars .  When I heard that Rick and Corey were visiting Manila, I immediately took note of the date and planned to go.  I was following updates on Facebook and Twitter as well. Last week, I got my pass for an opportunity for photo op with the guys.  And today came.  I was at Glorietta a little after 9AM for the 12NN event.  The organizers said the queue was outside the mall so I went there and secured my place in line.  When the mall opened at 10AM, people were coming from different corners to queue inside!  It wasn't managed well, obviously, and the organizers did not rectify the situation because they had no way of knowing who was really there first.  Oh well... It was unfair especially for the folks who were there early enough to get seats and tickets for the photo op.  Once we figured out there was no chance of me getting inside, we left and had lunch first.  Then we watched from

Catch-up Over Coffee

Image
We were walking around Glorietta after dinner at Ganso Shabuway and chanced upon some familiar faces.  Instant Intel IT reunion.    We proceeded to J.Co for desserts with Erick and Joy.  Believe it or not (believe na!) it was my first time to step inside a J.Co store.  I am always discouraged and incredulous of the long queue but there's actually another queue if you're eating in-store and not buying boxes of donuts. The coffee was good and the conversations, too.  Always good to catch up with friends, especially if unplanned.=) Quit na si Neil! This was close to 11PM and he ran out of power.

Ganso Shabuway Greenbelt 5

Image
The family had dinner at Ganso Shabuway in Greenbelt 5 last Saturday, using the voucher I bought weeks ago.  We had the Premium Wagyu Beef Japanese Hotpot for 2 (+Neil).  Even if the condition was to reserve 2 days in advance, they accommodated us with an hour's notice. I have not been to a hotpot/shabu-shabu restaurant in a long time and that was part of the reason why I bought the deal.  The pot with miso and plain soup was set in the middle of the table and they brought the vegetables and meat for us to DIY.  I'm not a meat connoisseur but that wagyu beef was very good!

Love Does by Bob Goff

Image
I discovered the book Love Does by Bob Goff by browsing Amazon for 'Wrecked' (I loved the audiobook and wanted to get the hard copy). I read the reviews, some stories about the author and was drawn in. As a college student he spent 16 days in the Pacific Ocean with five guys and a crate of canned meat. As a father he took his kids on a world tour to eat ice cream with heads of state. He made friends in Uganda, and they liked him so much he became the Ugandan consul. He pursued his wife for three years before she agreed to date him. His grades weren't good enough to get into law school, so he sat on a bench outside the Dean’s office for seven days until they finally let him enroll. ( from Amazon ) I had a choice to buy the Kindle version but I really want the hard copy.  I searched the websites of local bookstores but they did not have it. We were at Fully Booked one day and I decided to order it. They searched the database found one copy in Cebu, and that they will

Neil at 5

Image
Neil celebrated his birthday last month and these are the things he's been up to since turning 5. He likes to asks what's inside something continuously until we get to the cellular/atomic level.=)  For example "What's inside the cloud?"  "Water droplets." "Inside the water droplets?"  "Water molecules." "Inside the water molecules?"  "Hydrogen and oxygen atoms." "Inside the hydrogen and oxygen atoms?"  "Nothing. That's the smallest!" We've done so many of these -- earth, sun, neck, head, etc. =) Nowadays he answers "because I like it"  or "because I want it" if we ask him why he did something or why he wants something. Or "because I don't like it" otherwise. Neil reminds Rich to wear his seatbelt by verbally insisting until the seatbelt warning light turns off. "Daddy, it's red! It's red! Wear your seatbelt!" In the pas
