Love Does by Bob Goff

I discovered the book Love Does by Bob Goff by browsing Amazon for 'Wrecked' (I loved the audiobook and wanted to get the hard copy). I read the reviews, some stories about the author and was drawn in.

As a college student he spent 16 days in the Pacific Ocean with five guys and a crate of canned meat. As a father he took his kids on a world tour to eat ice cream with heads of state. He made friends in Uganda, and they liked him so much he became the Ugandan consul. He pursued his wife for three years before she agreed to date him. His grades weren't good enough to get into law school, so he sat on a bench outside the Dean’s office for seven days until they finally let him enroll. (from Amazon)

I had a choice to buy the Kindle version but I really want the hard copy.  I searched the websites of local bookstores but they did not have it. We were at Fully Booked one day and I decided to order it. They searched the database found one copy in Cebu, and that they will let me know when it's available for pickup.  Then I got a text a few weeks later that it was available.  I got the book on  August 10 and it's now in my favorites list.

The writing on this book is simple and straightforward but the stories are extraordinary.  Bob Goff shares experiences from his life and connects it to the bigger picture -- kindness, generosity, spirituality, and God.  And it is not a boring life either.  It's whimsical, exciting and open.  I was really inspired.  Each person can make a difference, help others and make his/her own life beautiful by going, giving, engaging and doing.

In the first chapter, the author says, "we need to stop plotting the course and instead just land the plane on our plans to make a difference by getting to the "do" part of faith.  That's because love is never stationary... Simply put: love does."
