Labor Day Holy Smoke Festival 2018

Image
Annual Labor Day festival hosted by our church.

Acworth Beach

Image
We went to Acworth Beach after the visit to Tellus Science Museum. Acworth Beach is on Lake Allatoona, and it's about 22 miles from where we live. People usually flock to the beaches on holidays and this was no exception. We had to walk some distance from parking to the beach, found a spot for our mat, and then let the kids play.

Tellus Science Museum

Image
Last Labor Day weekend we decided to visit Tellus Science Museum for the first time. The main exhibits cover prehistoric life, transportation and geology. It was very well curated. The place wasn't too big, but it's packed with with interesting displays. We saw two movies in the planetarium, one being a space movie with Sesame Street characters. The kids enjoyed it. Ela the Ballerina

Image
We signed Ela up for ballet and she had her first class in August. She loved her whole outfit and was so excited on the days leading up to her first session. I had to document it, of course. :)

Neil's 10th Birthday

Image
Neil celebrated his 10th birthday in July. It's the double digits, which made it especially sentimental for me. In the morning, we had breakfast at home. I made pancakes and blew birthday candles. Ela helped. I also made Neil's birthday cake, decorated with a world map because geography is still his favorite. Around noon, our Pinoy friends to also celebrate a bridal shower and two despedidas. Four celebrations in one. There's always a lot of laughter when this group gets together.

The High Museum

Image
The High Museum has temporary exhibits throughout the year and it was Winnie The Pooh during the summer. Of course we had to go see it. They showed original illustrations, vintage toys and interactive displays that immerse you in Hundred Acre Wood.  Outside the museum was another temporary installation called Sonic Playground, colorful sculptures that transmit sound. The kids (and adults) had fun on this one. July 7, 2018

Fourth of July Parade

Image
We watched the 4th of July parade at Marietta Square. This was the day after we got back from the road trip to Jekyll Island.
