Hello 2018!
Hello, 2018!
I have so much to catch up on. Blogging slowed down the last few months of last year but I will get around to posting the more important events soon. The main reason for the hiatus was, we bought a house!
We started looking at houses around September and actually closed on the one which we saw on the first day. We had some work done (minor foundation repair and changed the floors on the lower level), and finally moved in on December 30. It was a whirlwind of errands here and there, a season of perpetual motion. There are still a lot of small projects to tackle, and stuff to buy but we are slowly getting used to the new place.
When we first moved in, Ela was always asking to 'go home'. We've had to explain that this is home now. It's sad to leave what was home for 3+ years but we were outgrowing the apartment and needed to plant some roots. Also, build equity. #adulting
The house is about 9 miles away from the old apartment. It's farther from the office, but a lot closer to church. We chose this location because of the school district. Neil had to switch schools for the second semester. We really liked his elementary school and he had to leave his friends since first grade. I'm sure he'll thrive in the new school, but it still doesn't make moving on easy.
That said, we are looking forward to making memories in this place. One thing that I really appreciate is that the kids can freely make noise and jump or run around as much as they want. Ela was running around one time and she said 'I like running fast.' :) In the old apartment, we were always asking them to stop because there were people living next to and under us. Points for the new house.
I hope everyone's having a good start of the year so far!
