Blueberry Picking at Washington Farms

Image
About two weeks ago, I mentioned in passing that it's blueberry season and that there are farms that are open to the public for picking.  Neil was enthused and really held on to the idea.  He also caught me researching farms a few times and he would repeatedly ask when we would go.  I didn't want to disappoint him, plus I was also interested to check it out myself so last Saturday we went to Washington Farms in Watkinsville to pick blueberries! We left the house around 9:30AM and one hour later, we were at the farm.  It was a pleasant experience walking along the rows of blueberry shrubs and picking the fruits.  We got two buckets and let Neil take charge of one.  He's a serious little picker and did not complain despite the heat.  If it was up to him, we would have stayed longer. We filled half the bucket just because that's all we thought would be all we're able to consume.  We paid $6 for the berries and had some of their homemade ...

Atlanta Olympic Park

We've been to the Atlanta Olympic Park twice since the big move .  The first time was really just for Neil to take the MARTA because he has been asking to ride it for weeks.=) The second time was for the 4th of July fireworks.  Two wildly different experiences at the same park.  The area is huge but on July 4 there was a very long line to get in and they eventually stopped people from entering because it was too packed.  We found an area close to the gates and waited for the fireworks there.  It wasn't the perfect spot for seeing the musical performers or the fireworks but it turned out for the best because we were able get out of the park ahead of the crowd.  It was fun to get into the spirit with the locals but I will not do it again. Neil's 6th Birthday

Image
Neil turned 6 last week.  This year's celebration is very simple compared to last year.  It's just the three of us physically but we know family and friends are celebrating with us in spirit.  July 14 fell on a Monday and I had to work, so we started celebrating on Sunday.  We went to Legoland Discovery Center at Phipps Plaza in Buckhead after church.  He's loving Lego these days so this was enjoyable for him. On Monday while I was at work, Rich bought cake from Piece of Cake and some decorations from Party City.  Neil was with him so no surprise factor, which I think turned out ok because he was involved and knew we were celebrating his birthday.=) July 13, 2014 July 14, 2014 Happy 6th birthday, Neil! We love you very much.
