Atlanta, Georgia - November 2012

Hello, November!

I have been away from the blog for a while because I traveled to the US on the first week of November and the work days leading up to that were quite busy.

It has not been 2 months since my last US trip but I was given another opportunity to fly for the mentoring kickoff meeting on November 7.  I applied for the company's mentorship program and was selected for this year's batch.  The boss also scheduled 2 whole-day meetings to discuss 2013 projects, and I had regular reports run so the week was, again, busy.  Enough about work!  This post is really about the sightseeing in Atlanta.=)

I traveled with J, who's also in the mentorship program, and we arrived to very cold weather in Atlanta on Saturday night.  Our home for the week was Holiday Inn in Dunwoody, one exit away from the corporate office.  We met up with M, an Atlanta local, on Saturday night and we had dinner at Tin Drum, shopped at Target and I also bought a new point-and-shoot at Best Buy.  Yey, I finally have a p&s again!  (After the heartbreaking loss of the old p&s a few months ago.)

On Sunday, we went downtown to do the CNN Studio Tour, see the Georgia Aquarium and Olympic Park.  I have been to all these places in 2010 with Rich and Neil but it I decided to go again to accompany J since it was her first time in the US.  New since the 2010 visit was the Dolphin Tales show at Georgia Aquarium.

We took the MARTA to Peachtree Center and walked all the way to the attractions.  It was a nice day out.

That escalator!  Made my knees weak...

First stop was CNN for the Studio Tour.  Our timing was perfect since we had to wait just a few minutes for the next tour to start.  It was the calm at the center 2 days before the US Elections.  The crew were testing all the interactive screens for election coverage.  There were also a few changes to the tour since 2010.  They used to just show the green screen to demonstrate weather reporting but now it's an interactive screen as well.

After the tour, we walked across the Olympic Park to get to the Georgia Aquarium.  Having four seasons is great because of the fall colors on the trees.  So pretty!

We did not have time to check out the Coca-Cola Museum anymore because we were to meet M in the afternoon and head to Stone Mountain.
