Neil at 6 years and 5 months

The things that I want to remember about Neil at 6 years and 5 months.

First up, he finally broke 20kgs a few weeks back!  We have not been tracking his weight for some time so this was a pleasant surprise.

Loves geography.  He's learning about it in school and we got him a map of the world (posted in the dining room) and US map (in his bedroom).  When I ask him to name the US states, he can say more than 40 according to where they are in the map.  He knows what states are in the different regions like northwest, midwest, etc.  He draw maps on his Megasketcher, and asks stuns us with questions like: "Why is there Augusta in Maine and Augusta in Georgia?" "Why is Jupiter in New Jersey?" and why Missouri has a city named Kansas.  Also questions like the population of whatever continent, country, state.

He has a growing word collection.  It's just words that he writes on strips of paper.  I love it.  He's very good at spelling. He gets a list of spelling words every week and extra robust words, which I think are pretty challenging for first graders.  He's able to spell those as well.

It's been 3 months since we had him take the trial classes for karate and we've decided to let him continue because he's interested.  Keeps him active, especially these days when he couldn't bike as much.  While the cold spell has been a struggle for me, he's totally fine with it.

If you ask him a Yes or No question, like, "Neil, did you finish your food?" He'll ask back "If I say 'No', will you be mad?"=)

His favorite books are the Captain Underpants and Ricky Ricotta series.

Fun age. =)
