Last Monday was the 2nd grade awards day at Neil's school. The homeroom teachers called the students one by one to the stage to get their awards. Neil received the Principal's Award for getting all As. So proud of Neil.=)
Reading Habits and Book Formats . Where and how do you read? Can you read anywhere and everywhere, or do you need a certain place/mood/state of mind to get reading? Do you read more in the morning or at night or any minute that you can? Where and how do you usually read? Are you exclusively for print, or do you go for ebooks more than print? Have you ever tried audiobooks? I am old school. Even as most books now have digital versions, I still prefer the physical, ink-on-paper variety. I like holding a real book, flipping the pages and being able to see my progress based on the thickness of read/unread pages. Somehow, I feel more engaged and focused reading a physical book vs. from a gadget. I very rarely reread books so most of my collection just sit on the shelf after I'm done with them. I feel it's a waste of precious trees if they are not shared with others. So I started a Google doc at work where the team can list down their collections and anybod...
High Museum of Art http://www.high.org/ 1280 Peachtree Street, N.E. Atlanta, GA 30309 We visited the High Museum of Art yesterday, September 26. It was Museum Day and we got 2 free tickets from the Smithsonian website. There were many other participating museums in Atlanta but we chose this one because they have a special exhibit of Mo Willems' art. We love his Elephant and Piggie books! Art overload! We love museums. Ela seemed to like it, too. She was calm and happy the whole time.=) This dish was particularly interesting. There was a short line to get infront of it because it amplifies sound and those kaleidoscope-like reflections are so much fun. There were more of this museum that we were not able to take pictures of, like the old European paintings and sculptures, because my camera's battery ran out. We got there before 3PM and they were open only until 5PM because of an event. We had a lot of viewing to squeeze into two...
Hello, blog! It's been very quiet here. No posts in 2021, which is sad. I don't remember things/events very well which is why I like writing things down on my paper planner and taking pictures. The app that I consistently use on my phone is Timehop because I enjoy getting reminded of the past through pictures and videos. I'm on a 1500+ day streak! With the kids, it has been awesome/bittersweet to see how much they've grown. However, some things are not sufficiently captured by notes on a planner or pictures -- state of mind, current perspectives, events, challenges and inspirations. A friend's blog post linked on Facebook prompted me to revisit this site and consider its future. In the past, this was my way of documenting events primarily for me and eventually for the kids to look back on. I think that will continue, but maybe inject more stories here and there. Also, I spend too much time online scrolling mindlessly through people's posts. This will help me sh...
