Beijing 2014: Great Wall at Joyungguan and Summer Palace

For our second day in Beijing, the main destination was the Great Wall at Joyungguan.  It was cloudy and raining that morning but we did not let that stop us from seeing this wonder of the world.

Juyongguan or Juyong Pass is a mountain pass located in the Changping District of Beijing Municipality, over 50 kilometers (31 mi) from central Beijing. The Great Wall of China passes through, and the Cloud Platform gate was built here in the year 1342. (Wikipedia)

We dropped by a Jade Factory after Great Wall and had lunch there as well.

We went to the Summer Palace in the afternoon.
The Summer Palace is a vast ensemble of lakes, gardens and palaces in Beijing,China. The Summer Palace is mainly dominated by Longevity Hill and the Kunming Lake. It covers an expanse of 2.9 square kilometres (720 acres), three-quarters of which is water. (Wikipedia)

We had shabu-shabu dinner in the evening. It was good.=)
