Beijing 2014 - Temple of Heaven and Tea House
We had to take care of so many things related to the big move which is why I have not blogged for weeks. Despite the many pending tasks, I'm starting to get free time here and there so here's a new post - a continuation of the China chronicles.
Our second destination for Day 1 was Temple of Heaven.
The Temple of Heaven, literally the Altar of Heaven is a complex of religious buildings situated in the southeastern part of central Beijing. The complex was visited by the Emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties for annual ceremonies of prayer to Heaven for good harvest. It has been regarded as a Taoist temple, although Chinese heaven worship, especially by the reigning monarch of the day, pre-dates Taoism. (Wikipedia)
When we got back to the venue, our tour guide let us in and we saw the last few stunts on the bike. Galing!

Tea House
This government-operated tea house was just outside the Temple of Heaven. We were treated to different kinds of tea, which was part of the tour. It was interesting and enjoyable overall, but they were hard-selling the products in the end. I guess that's really part of the deal. We were not able to resist and walked away with some puer tea.
We left the tea house and headed for Wangfujing Street. We were in a rush here because our tour group (including Papang and Mom) were watching the acrobatics show. Em and I opted out.
Em and I hung out at a coffee shop/bakery while everyone else watched the show.
