To Atlanta

San Diego posts are done which means I can now move on to the Atlanta stories.=)

We flew from San Diego to Atlanta on Tuesday, May 13.  Although the flight was only for four hours, it felt longer because of the 3-hr time difference.

There were a lot of delays along the way.  Our flight actually arrived earlier than expected but the gate was not ready so we had to wait in the plane for at least 15 minutes.  Car rental processing also took a while because the attendant had to track down a GPS unit.  Then the car they gave us did not start so it had to be replaced with an almost-new Toyota Camry.  Better.=)  During the drive we missed an exit twice.

We went to the hotel to get the key to the corporate apartment, as instructed by the relocation coordinator.  The receptionists said they did not have it.  I had to explain the situation several times because they seemed to be unaware of the arrangement and they flatly said it was not with them.  I was starting to worry that we'd have to arrange for other accommodations so late in the night.  Then the guy checked the envelopes and it was there.  Hay naku! I was a annoyed but was more relieved so I thanked them and headed back to the car.

Our next challenge was getting into the apartment.  We figured out the entrance to the gate easily but finding the right building and unit was another hurdle.  We had to drive around a few minutes and eventually found two people who helped us figure things out. We were in the apartment about 12 midnight.  Despite all the little inconveniences, we made it safe and sound. Tired. Thankful.

The next day, I reported for work.=)

Here are some photos of the apartment before we made it "more homey."=)  It's really nice especially compared to our condo in Makati.  Reminds me of the apartments in Chandler, AZ.  Thank you, Lord, for this house...
