Amicalola Falls

Visiting Amicalola Falls has been on our agenda for weeks. Ever since I mentioned the place to Neil, he's been asking when we would go. Finally, we scheduled it for October 2, together with our Pinoy friends. We also planned to do apple-picking and a visit a sunflower farm since they are all in the same area in north Georgia.

Amicalola Falls is 57 miles away from our place. We left around 9AM and arrived a little past 10. There are various trails one can take to get to the falls but we chose the easiest hike which was less than 1 mile. Just as we were starting the hike, Neil tripped and scraped his knee so he was in pain and miserable most of the way. He eventually calmed down and enjoyed the rest of the places we saw. Here are a few pictures from our short visit to the falls.

From Wikipedia:
Amicalola Falls State Park is an 829 acre (3.35 km²) Georgia state park located between Ellijay and Dahlonega inDawsonville, Georgia. The park's name is derived from a Cherokee language word meaning "tumbling waters". The park is home to Amicalola Falls, a 729-foot (222 m) waterfall, making it the highest in Georgia. It is considered to be one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Georgia.
