Antelope Canyon in Page, AZ

When it was confirmed that we would be spending Christmas in Nevada, I researched places we could visit that are within driving distance. The Grand Canyon was first on the list primarily for Neil, and then Page, AZ for Antelope Canyon, or Byce and Zion National Parks in Utah. We would only have two days and we can't do everything so we decided to do Page on the first day and the two national parks in Utah as options for the second day.

So we drove to Page, AZ in the morning of December 23. We arrived at Antelope Canyon at 1PM, and were able to get in the 1:30PM tour. Our guide says the school break always bring more people to this attraction so we had to wait about 30 minutes before we can descend because the entry allows only one person at a time. But once we were down there, it's not so crowded anymore. And we got to appreciate the environment which was unlike anything we've seen. Amazing rock formations created by the flashfloods, which continue to happen. In fact, tours were cancelled the previous day because it rained.

I have been to the Grand Canyon several times while stationed in Chandler, AZ but I don't know why I never learned about Antelope Canyon until recently. It's less than 2 hours from Grand Canyon and is definitely worth a visit. I consider this one of the natural wonders we've seen as a family.

Waiting to descend

That's where we emerged from after the tour.
