Transitions
I've finally caught up on the travel posts. Time for the serious stuff...
Transitions... That's our household theme for the last few weeks. After over a year of being a stay-at-home dad, Richard started working again on May 9. We did not have a yaya/helper since November last year but because of this, we had to hire one again. Training a new y/h takes a lot of work. Aside from adjusting to a new person in the house, they also make a lot of mistakes in the beginning. The best that we can hope for is that they learn the first time and the errors don't happen again.
After 3 weeks, the new y/h suddenly decided not to stay. She gave us less than a week's notice, and left on Friday. We found out from her cousin that the reason she cited, death in the family, was not true. :S So she really just wanted to leave. We did not ask her to stay anymore. Three weeks has convinced us that she wasn't a good fit with our family...
This y/h business is a lot like dating, no? Only more complicated!
So, we are now without a y/h. We scrambled to find one last week and have asked family to help us as well. As of this writing, we have somebody coming on Friday. We hope and pray that it will work out for us and her. In the meantime, Richard's mom and niece are staying with us to watch Neil while we're at work. Thank you God for family...
Back to Richard's job, he has regular hours at work (9AM-6PM). He's been reporting at the Pioneer office so his commute doesn't take very long (an hour max one way). I still do mid-shift (3PM-12MN) so we have very little time to catch up these days. Mornings are always busy. He cooks breakfast before going to work while I attempt sleep some more. I cook lunch/dinner in the morning, take care of Neil and sleep a little bit before heading for work in the afternoon. I just make sure I go home for dinner/family time because everyone will already be asleep by the end of my workday.
Things are not easy for sure but they will be worthwhile. We are in this season of changes but nevertheless thankful and hopeful for all the everyday blessings we receive from God.
Looking up!

Looking up!
Hi Dee,
ReplyDeleteWe got our yaya/househelp 3 weeks ago from a maid agency (penang based but is linked with a manila one). On the first day, we went through a roles & responsibilities list with her. Daily/weekly/monthly tasks are listed as well as do's & don'ts. So far, she has rated EE in our book!
We could be just plain lucky to get a really good one, though both Ravi & I agree that the R&R list really helped in making things the way it is now.
Good luck with the new lady, let us know how it turns out.
Really nice blog Dee. I'm seriously thinking about starting one for Sarah.
Regards to Richard & Neil :)

Hi Marz! It's great that you found a good yaya for Sarah. Malaking bagay talaga... May darating na kaming yaya sa Monday gaing sa province, kapitbahay ng uncle ni Richard. We hope this will work out na. May list din ako of R&Rs pati daily schedule ni Neil.=)
ReplyDeleteYes, start a blog! Good to chronicle the kids' growing up years pati memory aid for us. Hehe. Keep in touch Marz! We miss you!
