Bohol May2011: Bohol Bee Farm

Bohol Bee Farm gets my recommendation as a must-visit attraction in Bohol.

Our original plan was to go there after Panglao on Day 2, but since we still had time after the countryside tour, we moved it to Day 1.  We liked it so much that we still went back the following day.=)

I really had no expectations about the place and was pleasantly surprised at how massive and well-maintained an operation it was.  They had lodging, restaurants, an ice cream bar, shop, art exhibits, aside from the farm itself.

Such a pretty, relaxing place...

They offer a tour of the bee farm at P20 per person.  We did not do this on the first day because they said bees tend to sting in that weather.  And we still did not go on the second day because of time constraints (Richard was flying back to Manila in the afternoon).

We tried most of the ice cream flavors they had, even the more exotic spicy ginger which tastes exactly like the name.  Kuhang-kuha.  I did not not like any of the variants we tried.  It's also reasonably priced at P50 for 2 scoops.  The cone is made of cad-cad (cassava?) and doesn't turn soggy like the regular cones that we know.  Good for Neil!

There's a shop selling all kinds of native goods, products from the farm, etc.  Great stuff for pasalubong.  They also allow free taste of the different honey and tea varieties.

I've read that their famous flower salad is a must try.  We checked out the prices and decided that we'll do the buffet the following day after Panglao.

We will remember BBF because this is where we watched the Pacquiao-Mosley fight.  See, they were supposed to serve the buffet in another area but since there was not TV there, we requested that it be served at the restaurant by the entrance.=)

I regret not having paid better attention to the food (Manny's fault) but it was really good (the food!).  I would do this again in my next Bohol trip.

The thing that I missed seeing was the deck/restaurant overlooking the beach.  So disappointed that I did not know about it.:(  We just stayed in the area near the shops and I mistakenly thought the farm was nowhere near the beach based on the drive.  Anyway, more reason to go back and probably stay there for a night or two.
