Let Us

It's been a while since I've posted my church notes... Here's the latest from the series Let Us.  The topic from Sunday was Encourage One Another.

Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.  And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.  Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. (Hebrews 10:23-25)

God saves us individually but calls us to live in community.

Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God. (John 1:12-13)

1) Let us draw near to God with boldness and confidence
In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence. (Ephesians 3;12)

2) Hold unswervingly to the hope we profess
- God is able and willing.
- Sometimes human setbacks are divine setups.

So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.  You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. (Hebrews 10:35-36)

What if some were unfaithful?  Does their faithlessness nullify the faithfulness of God?  By no means!  (Romans 3:3-4 ESV)

3) Spur/encourage one another
Provoke, motivate, incite others towards good deeds done with love.
