Feats of Memory

Neil is now 4 10/12 years old and he has an amazing memory.  He is able to recall things without effort.  Once, he recited the order of letters in the QWERTY keyboard.  We asked him to repeat it so we can validate, and it was perfect.  Em asked "Aren't you amazed?"  I have to admit that I take these things for granted sometimes because I've gotten used to them and also because I don't know if it's normal for kids his age.  But it's really amazing.

Neil obviously did not get this talent from me.  I am trying to recall other things he has memorized just so I don't forget...
  • The actors in the Avengers movie which he recalled from reading the credits.  From "Robert Downey Jr.," up to "and Samuel L. Jackson."  Neil likes reading the credits to anything, be it TV show, movies, iPad games or book authors from the cover.  There was a time when we could not change the channel or turn off the player once the credits started rolling because he would object and cry.  But he's less obsessive about this now.=)
  • The steps to setting up the code for the safety deposit box at the hotel.  He read the instructions and recited the steps while we were on the bus. "One. Press the reset button. Two. Enter 4-digit code..."
  • The filters in the Repix iPad app and his description of what they do. "Sepia makes it brown. Vintage makes it yellow. Hollywood makes it blue. Freshen makes it nice..."
  • We were at the Ayala Museum in Saturday and watched the Gold of Ancestors video.  It was close to the end so we just stayed until it started playing again.  Right at the point we caught from the earlier screening, Neil asked why it's repeating.  He remembered, even though I thought he wasn't paying close attention.
