Singapore Day 1 - Marina Bay

It was around 2AM of April 20 when we checked in at the hotel.  A few days ago, I booked a Johor Bahru, Malaysia tour for 8AM but the operator said they need at least 6 adults to proceed so we had to wait and see.  I checked my email before going to sleep to see if there was any advise and there wasn't any so I assumed it was cancelled.

Then we were awakened by the phone. The tour bus was waiting downstairs.  Naah!  Of course we were not ready and the bus had to leave without us.  As it has been pre-paid, I was concerned about getting the money back but after two phone calls they agreed to book us for the following day.  Problem solved, now we can really start Day 1.

We had a light day planned which gave us ample time to figure out how to get around and just take this new place in.  We took the hotel shuttle going to Orchard Road, walked some distance and had breakfast at Food Republic in Somerset.  We then proceeded to do whole day of sightseeing around Marina Bay.

We walked inside the Marina Bay Sands and ended up near the entrance to the ArtScience Museum.  We just sat there to rest and I actually took a short nap.  The main exhibit at the museum was Art of the Brick by Nathan Sawaya.  Art made of Legos, you say?  We're decided to check it out.

Neil wanted to climb the inclined wall and Lola pointed out the sign that says it's not allowed.  Neil touched the sign and said, "remove this." =)

We then walked across the Helix Bridge towards the south side of the bay.  That's one cool piece of architecture!

We made our way to the Merlion for more touristy pictures.

Neil did not see the Merlion because he was knocked out.  I was initially against bringing his stroller because he's too big for it and he hasn't been using it for months but Rich was right.  It was very useful especially as we were out all day.

We walked back to Makansutra in Esplanade for dinner with Intel friends then watched for the Lights and Sounds show before calling it a day.

End of Day 1.
