Neil Updates at 5.5
"I will do it by myself."
This is Neil's usual statement these days. It seems like he has transformed overnight from someone who used to let us do things for him to a vehemently independent boy. When he says he want to do something by himself, he's really committed and would not change his mind. It can be homework, or brushing his teeth or using the bathroom.
He is now 5.5 years old. How did we get here so fast? I am just trying to enjoy this season as much as I can and take pictures along the way.
I took the photo below after his very first experience in a public bathroom by himself. He said he needed to urinate then ran off to the men's CR by himself. I can't follow so I had to wait outside.
This is his happy face for photos these days.
Still reading a lot of Dr. Seuss. Thank you for the loan Ninong Caloy and Ninang Charm!
Grocery-shopping is still a favorite activity. He takes care of the list, gets the items from the shelves, then checks them off. Thus the ballpen in his hand.
He scraped his elbow because he tripped in the playground. It was close to getting healed but he tripped again and wounded the same spot. Part of growing up. It's all good.
He is more open to trying different food these days (no more objections and wrestling), and likes most of what he tries.
He loves school. Even if he's still sleepy in the morning he would get when we say he needs to start getting ready.
Still asks a LOT of questions, mostly WHY?
I feel blessed to be Neil's mommy.
