School Field Trip Part 2 - Bahay Tsinoy
For the second part of Neil's school field trip, we went to Bahay Tsinoy in Intramuros. It was a very well-designed and well-curated museum showing the history of Chinese people in the Philippines. I was very impressed, especially by the wax figures displays that depicted Tsinoy life in the not so distant past.
Neil's school has a Chinese curriculum and majority of the students have Chinese heritage. This was a great experience for them, and me! Although I would have loved to linger and read the details about the displays, the other kids and parents were pacing a lot faster so we had to keep up as well. Baka maging gating sa bus.=)
It was great to be back in Intramuros. The area does have a palpably different feel than Makati. It draws you in, makes you feel and appreciate being Filipino. I want to go back soon.
