Atlanta May2010: Inside CNN Studio Tour and World of Coca-Cola

Back-blogging last year's trip to the US.

One thing that I really like about the Atlanta attractions is how a lot of them are located very close to each other in downtown.  You can see more in a day since a lot of time is saved by not having to drive to the next destination.  On our second weekend, we did the Inside CNN Studio Tour and checked out World of Coca-Cola. These two attractions were also included in the CityPass.

Our first stop was the Inside CNN Studio Tour.  There will be a bit of waiting if you happen to miss the schedule. Secure tickets first so you can reserve your preferred time.  Picture-taking was not allowed on most of the tour so we have very few photos.

While waiting for the tour, you can get food from the numerous merchants, check out the Cartoon Network store, the souvenir shop, take photos with the large CNN logo outside.

What you will see are the broadcast rooms (no live broadcast when we were there), the newsrooms where they monitor new developments and write the stories, etc, and a mockup room with the green screen where you can pretend to be the weather reporter.  There are large journalistic photos along the stairwell and hallways, including those of Anderson Cooper.  It would have been a treat to see the real AC.=)

With Thea and Erle

The tour is efficiently woven into the architecture of the CNN headquarters.  This is a great way to get insights into how one of the world's premier news organizations operates.

After CNN, we walked to the World of Coca-Cola.  All things Coke in this place!  I liked the memorabilia, artworks, the oversized embellished Coke bottles, the theater where they show old and new Coke ads worldwide, and the taste-all-you-can room with Coke products from around the world as well.

Next two family pictures are from Erle.

Even though we are not big "softdrinkers," this was still a fun place to check out.
