San Diego Sep2011: Seaport Village + Walk Along the Bay
Cess and I decided to explored the Seaport Village (SV) Monday morning. We took the trolley from the Santa Fe station to the SV station, just one stop. It was quite a walk from the hotel to the station and then to the SV itself. We knew that it was close to the hotel but didn't realize that it was just just a straight down North Harbor Drive. It would probably have taken less time walking all the way vs. taking the trolley.
Seaport Village is an entertainment and commercial complex with restaurants, a historic carousel, shops and other attractions. It's open from 10AM-10PM. We were there as the restaurants were opening. There weren't a few people around yet. Just some joggers and hungry people like us.=)
It was a warm, sunny day.
First order of business - food. We checked out a few restaurants, then settled on Margarita's Kitchen and Cantina.
We decided to go back to the hotel after eating. We knew better at this point so we walk all the way back which was a good idea because we saw interesting things along the way (not possible with the trolley).
USS San Diego
That's the USS Midway in the background.
He fought in Leyte.
That is huge! It's a recreation of the famous post-war photo by Alfred Eisenstadt, taken in 1945.
The inspiration.
I like these trees.
Self-portrait. =)
Star of India, just across the hotel.
Pretty good for an unplanned excursion, noh?

Burrito and quesadilla for brunch! We savored these at the food court. It was an
enjoyable experience except for the unknown tiny creatures that would bite
our legs...
