San Diego Sep2011: Holiday Inn - On the Bay

My home-away-from-home for the duration of the meeting (official business) was the Holiday Inn - On the Bay.  It's a great location right by the bay and very close to the airport.  There are a lot of things to see and do around the area.  The Gaslamp Quarter, Balboa Park and San Diego Zoo are all within 10 minutes drive.  Ideal for leisure travelers, which I could see was majority of the market for this hotel.

I was billeted on the second floor and the next two photos are what I see from the window.  Not perfect but I see the bay, which is good.

Philippine flag!
The thing about this room is that since it's on the side of the street and on a low floor, you can hear the vehicles from the street and noise from the bar if it gets loud.  Not ideal if you require total peace and quiet in order to sleep.  I had trouble the first couple of nights but was too tired to notice it on succeeding nights.  I guess that's the tradeoff...

The room is sufficiently furnished.  Great beds, flat screen TV and free wifi.  This is a 'refreshed' hotel so everything looks new.  I looked for a small ref/bar but there was none, and they don't provide silverware either.  They would have been useful additions.

For the meeting though, we received exemplary support from the hotel staff.  Food was always great and everything was in order.  It's all good!
