Atlanta May2010: Georgia Aquarium

Back-blogging last year's trip to the US.

My business trip to Atlanta was for 2 weeks, which gave us 2 weekends to check out the sights.  From my research, the Georgia Aquarium was highly recommended so that was the very first attraction we visited (May 9, 2010).  We bought the Altanta CityPass at $74 each which included tickets to the aquarium and 4 other attractions.

Georgia Aquarium is located in metro Atlanta.  It's close to the CNN Center, the Centennial Olympic Park and Coca-Cola Museum.  It is the world's largest aquarium, holding more than 8 million gallons of water.  There are whale sharks, rays, sharks, beluga whales, penguins - a host of water creatures big and small.

There's a theater-like seating area in front of one of the aquariums where a guide talks about the animals and anyone can freely ask questions.  That's where we hung out the most.  It was so relaxing just sitting there and watching the fish swim to and fro.

Breathtaking scale...

Neil and Mommy naman.  In the picture below, Richard was calling out my name for the picture and I couldn't figure out where he was.  Neil saw him first.=)

Neil fell asleep and Richard was cradling him.  A lady pointed to a stroller and said we need something like it.=)  We walked around, then waited where the beluga whales were until Neil woke up.

We went back to the tunnel again, this time Neil is awake.  I love his expression in the photo below.

Georgia Aquarium is definitely a must-see place in Atlanta.  You can spend the whole day here and not run out of things to see.  Everybody is sure to be amazed and entertained by the scale of the place, the variety of animals and other entertainment.
