The Avengers

Because there's just a lot of buzz around The Avengers and so far no negative feedback, Richard and I decided to watch it yesterday.  As with The Hunger Games, we booked tickets on Sureseats and picked a time when Neil takes his nap.  That's how we do balance in this house...

I can see why everyone seems to like the movie.  Good points:
  • Excellent casting.  I really liked Eric Bana as The Hulk in the previous movie but Mark Ruffalo brought an even more believable version of Dr. Banner.  I did not see Captain America the movie but Chris Evans was a believable all-American hero.
  • Seamless CGI, as expected from a big budget production.  Although the fight scenes in Manhattan dragged on longer than necessary, in my opinion.  When you've seen too many iterations of these scenes (Transformers), something needs to be out-of-the-box to stand out and be memorable.
  • Storyline.  This movie has a good plot and tempo.  Each of the characters were given enough time to be introduced to the audience and there's a balance of action scenes and talking parts.
  • Funny lines.  Always a good thing.
