FAQ: How to Know God's Will

FAQ is the title of the current preaching series in church.  Week 2 was about how to know God's will.

To know the will of God is the greatest knowledge; To find the will of God is the greatest discovery; To do the will of God is the greatest achievement.
-George Truett

We live in a material world.  If we are living day-by-day without actively filtering our influences, we could be allowing worldly ones to start to take root in our lives.  It is important to examine what we believe and be guided towards the right path.  Living according to God's will is possible only if we know God's will.

How to Know God's Will

1.  God's Word
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

2. God's Spirit
But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth.  He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. (John 16:13)
We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. (1 Corinthians 2:12)

3. God's People
The way of a fool seems right to him, but a wise man listens to advice. (Proverbs 12:15)
Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed. (Proverbs 15:22)
For lack of guidance a nation falls, but many advisers make victory sure. (Proverbs 11:14)

Knowing God's will is knowing Jesus.
